Fight for your soul.
Death cultivator Grady Hake thought his problems would disappear when he and his friends became members of the strongest gang on the prison planet, but all it did was thrust them into the kill-or-be-killed world of the Eight-Legged Dragons.
As Hake undergoes the trials of his gang, he’ll discover there’s a deadlier force on the prison planet than the death cultivator, even deadlier than the Angel of Death, and it wants his soul. Learning to cloak his lethal Spirit attacks in oblivion might help Hake rise through the ranks, but it won’t keep him and his friends alive…or keep his soul in one piece.
Mob Psycho meets Yakuza 0 in this sci-fi cultivation adventure from Eden Hudson, best-selling author of Rogue Dungeon and Path of the Thunderbird.

Oh boy does it ramp up!
This book builds on the first and takes things several degrees higher. It grabbed me and just would not let go, especially as we approached the end. Yes, I said we. I meant it. The author does a spectacular job of getting you so invested in the characters that you feel you have joined their journey yourself. In short, this is a great book and it hits on all of the targets from character development to action. Read it!

Very good read
I enjoyed reading this book and I recommend it to anyone that likes cultivation and LitRPG type of books with plenty of action.

Fun, weird, and a smidge creepy
eden Hudson writes odd fiction. Alice in wonder land meets kung fu hustle with a dash of fifth element. And then there’s the cultivating death. For a junior dark lord Hake’s a pretty nice guy. Such a creative bunch of aliens. Doing the right thing dancing with the dark side. Great reading. I had fun. I fast read.Score: 8.8 out of 10

Good read
Liked second book better than first, good action, Little romance and progressive cultivation, wondering how and when reaper shows up again, will MC ever repair festering knife wound and what will become of Fishy? Highly recommended

Great read, lost a little from the first one
Great book, devoured it in three days. Characters are likable and different and the whole concept is fresh and a bit creepy (in a good way – think Death Note meets Street Fighter!). My real critiques involve a surprising lack of snark from the main character – I guess it shows growth, but I kinda liked it; also for a cultivation series, there really wasn’t a lot of cultivation. Other than that, can’t wait for the next one!

A winner
This book, this series is another winner from one of my fave authors. Great fun, lots of action, amazing world building and the characters are out of this world, literally!
The Fourteenth Book of Elements –
Fun read ruined by stupidly naive morality of the protagonist.
This is mostly a fun read, but with one immense, immersion breaking flaw. For most of the book, the main character continues to exhibit the same impractical, Saturday-morning-cartoon-style morality that he did in the first volume: “We cannot ever kill anyone under any circumstances, even if they have beaten and enslaved us, even if they are currently attempting to murder my friends and me, and killing them might be the only way to stop them.”. This is annoying but forgivable given that the main character is young and the author at least makes him wrestle with the consequences of his squeamishness. However, in book two, we up the ante. Now, the main character learns that a woman who has condemned him to a lifetime of suffering because she was unwilling to admit she made a mistake, a woman who has tried to kill him and his friends numerous times and very nearly succeeded in an attempt to cover up that same mistake, has been captured and enslaved by their mutual enemies.Despite being weak, poor, and having few connections and even less knowledge of the world on which he finds himself, the protagonist immediately declares that he must go rescue this woman. There’s naivete, and then there is Darwin award level stupidity.I couldn’t keep reading because I had lost all ability to sympathize with the protagonist.

Slow build up for the main character.
I like the characters progress I just wish he had a bit more dedicated training to upgrading himself instead of always winging it. Amazing plot and story though.

Nothing not to like here. Immersive storyline, brilliant writing style. Lots of great action. Laugh-out-loud funny.I like how the story totally jumped off the rails at one point and everything just went berserk. I swear I never saw that coming. I love that kind of unpredictability though. Makes me want to read the next sequel even more.

A great follow up to book one as we see our main characters grow personally and together as they face increasing adversity and betrayals from almost all comers
