Remember the past, save the future.
After a week on the run, relaxing beachside is the closest thing to paradise that Shivurr can remember. Sunshine’s harsh for snow-based life forms, but he loves the ocean view. Besides, he’s got cold drinks, a hat full of his stolen memories, and more importantly—he’s free. Free of experiments. Free of the Institute. Free of the Bodhi Group.
The problem with paradise is that it can’t last. Not when there’s a forgotten apocalypse still to stop. Not when the Allfrost—a climate-altering machine—is failing and you’re sworn to defend it. Not even if you might be the last of your kind.
With the clock ticking, Shivurr must embark on a new journey of discovery, delving deeper into a world of gods, uncovering secrets, old and new, even as he continues to recover and evolve. Wherever the adventure takes him, he’ll have friends at his side, and he’ll need them and more to succeed.
Against the gods, demons, and secret agents opposing him, even a frost god may not be enough . . .

An Enchanted Story with Both Humans and Fantasy Characters
There are several things I enjoyed about this book, of which a couple are related to the author’s writing style. Throughout the story, the characters demonstrate a “made me laugh aloud” sense of humor. The author also has his characters demonstrate various perspectives as they not only travel through time, the characters also travel through space. At one point, I thought that it must be difficult traveling from time to time and place to place while not knowing if the people you meet will be friend or foe. And, in the case of this book, Shivurr (the main character) is a “snowman” as he travels through time in search of his friend. I also appreciated the characters’ recollections, especially early on, because their musings helped me remember information from the first book and make connections with book two. I enjoyed the author’s use of humor and his play on words, e.g., when Shivurr mentioned a Brain Freeze. I laughed aloud when a friend tells Shivurr “patience grasshopper.” (A reference to a tv show from the 1970’s.) I admit that there were several key points that I had not connected that gave me one of my biggest “ah has” toward the end. I was caught by surprise. By the way, I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A fascinating journey into a magical world!
If you have not read the previous books in this series, go now and do so. The characters are beautifully fleshed out in the previous books and in this book the world building is fantastically complete… The results is a series that lives and breathes and that both the old and young can enjoy!

Alfred Wurr is an excellent word smith- an intriguing tale of fantastic creatures mixed with the science of Earth (circa 1980s). In his first book Phantom Frost Alfred Wurr did extensive research of the setting in which this takes place, Nevada, United States. He keeps up his detailed research in this next book Frost God Rising. If you haven’t read the first book you can start with he 2nd but I recommend both! Plus if you want the background and expansion on several characters you can also pick up Fire Demon Dawn where we get the point of view of Director Harland Dixon, or follow up on the kids who helped break Shivurr out in the first place in The Shepherd!
