OK You need these. Trust me!Pros: Ignoring trying to keep a small space for storage, I like how these snap on to the individual pieces and can STAY on these pieces even if you are reconfiguring the track. I thought I was going to need to do rails every track change. If you want to take them off for storage you can and at the beginning of your playing day put them on and you are good.It keeps you from having to run every 15 seconds to replace another car that has gone off the track. Without the rails, the cars can stay on the track for racing (but even then sometimes they go off) but for other modes, once they start shooting each other or colliding, they will go off track. It’s fun but gets tiring. My plan is to keep every single piece with rails on so I can enjoy playing.Cons: Price. You can see they are well made but why not have bigger rails kits saving the expense of the box, cover and bags. It takes FOUR straight rails to secure one straight piece fully. So one of these kits fully covers 2 curved pieces and 1 straight piece. Imagine securing a collision kit. I would just like bigger kit options with the discount passed to us. You know these pieces probably cost 5-10 cents each to make and they sell them at $1 each. Then it takes $4 to cover 1 straight piece and $3 to cover a curved piece.My final thought is that I like them on all pieces. You might think you don’t need them for straight pieces …until you get shot, disabled and start spinning off the track.

Works perfectly!
The rail kit works perfectly and adds just the right amount of regidity when using the ramp, bank turn and overpass kit. Those that say the rail kit doesn’t work clearly very little effort into installing the it. Took me less than a minute to figureout and install.

Great once you figure it out.
Not bad once you learn how to clip them on track. I’m a guy and I hate reading instructions, but it’s best to.. lol These really help keep the cars on the track just in case.. but they kept falling off and wouldn’t stay.. until I figured out how they attach.. Long story short, I wasn’t pushing them all the way on.. Take it from me, read the directions.

They help, but they’re not foolproof
I already had an idea of what to expect from reading the other reviews so I wasn’t surprised that the cars could still go flying off the track if they hit the rail hard enough. Besides the fact that, in my opinion, the tracks should already come with rails, since these are secured by compression fitting instead of some sort of clamp, if the cars slide into the corners too fast they’ll push the rails off. They do help, though, but for the price… They look better than books and Lego ™ buildings we’d used in the past but it’s pretty expensive to do the entire track if you have extra expansion parts (we put two starter kits together).Summary – If you’re expecting to cover your entire track and your cars will never fall off you will be disappointed. However, if your car bumps the edge these will help it stay on course.

A Must Have
Overdrive is fun but cars often fly off the track interrupting the race. These rails fix that problem and make Overdrive a lot more fun. You will want at least 2 rail kits.

I bought this and some other Anki Overdrive stuff for my grandsons birthday.once we got the tablet and the system to sync up he loved it.first item that actually gets used since the tablet. expensive setup but smiles and laughsare worth the price. anki support is GREAT they walk you through everything if you are not a digital whiz.

Zunächst war ich mir nicht sicher, ob man diese Leitplanken denn tatsächlich benötigt. Und um es vorwegzunehmen, man kann Anki Overdrive auch prima ohne sie spielen.ABER: Bestimmte Konstruktionen wie beispielsweise Spiralen sind ohne sie nicht möglich. Da man bei Spiralen mit einer 360-Grad-Kurve die Strecke selber überquert, hat man leider nur sehr eingeschränkte Möglichkeiten zum Setzen der Stützen (Elevation-Kit). Dies führt dazu, dass das letzte Kurvensegment sehr wackelig wird und damit schlecht befahrbar ist. Durch die Montage der Leitplanken wird es jedoch soweit versteift, dass man 360-Grad-Spiralen jetzt ohne Probleme in seinen Kurs einbauen kann. Auch für Steilkurven im Anschluss an Brücken wie auch natürlich Brücken selber, bietet sich das Rail-Kit an. Die Begrenzungen auf den Kurveninnenseiten werden im Grunde ausschlieÃlich zur Versteifung (siehe oben) benötigt, da Fahrzeuge i.d.R. nicht auf der Innenseite einer Kurve herausfliegen.Auf ebener Strecke kann man sie natürlich ebenfalls einsetzen (z.B. bei einer Kurve nach einer langen Geraden). Allerdings sollte man sich bewusst sein, dass sie dort natürlich auch verhindern, dass von der Bahn geflogene Fahrzeuge selbstständig wieder auf diese zurückfinden. Von daher beschränkte ich mich zumeist auf die “HochstraÃen”.
