No contract!
I purchased this because I don’t have to pay for a subscription. There is the option to pay for online storage. Set up is easy.It works well but sometimes seems a little slow. It won’t always alert when someone walks by and when it does there’s usually a 4-5 second delay. Meaning that by the time I can see who’s on the other side of the door from my phone they’re knocking again. There’s less than 10 feet between the camera & the home base.I was having issues with my internet at one point, the service tech said doorbell cameras are notorious bandwidth hogs. He recommended I shut down the camera every so often to clear it out.The battery is great! I’ve only charged it 3 times in the last 10 months. It’s been fine through all of our Southeastern weather. Humid. Hot. Hurricanes. Not a glitch unless the home base loses power. Even then when the power comes back on it doesn’t have issues reconnecting.

Aosu Video Doorbell Great â Buy it!
This is my first video doorbell. I read numerous reviews and watched a ton of videos before deciding.I wanted something I can use without paying a continuing monthly subscription. And which can store video locally but preferably not on the doorbell itself.I want to sit in my basement office and not have to run upstairs to speak to someone at the front door. Two-way talking over my Echo Show is best for me. I can do all this with the Aosu doorbell.This doorbell comes with a base station that stores videos. It can store 8Gb, which is a lot of videos.The base connects to Wi-Fi and also doubles as a chime. It has 3 different chimes and doorbell itself has 3 chimes.I chose the Ultra because I wanted something I could hardwire and avoid worrying about recharging the battery. In my case, I did not plan to use my old doorbell chime, just the transformer.I was not sure how to wire when taking the old chime out of the loop. But Aosu support was quick to give great instructions. I thought I might need to put a resistor in the line from the transformer and they quickly confirmed that. Ann at Aosu support, even sent a link to the type I should consider.I eventually went with a Ring resistor because it comes with little wires already attached to each end of the resistor. I cannot solder electrical stuff, so I went the easiest route even though it did cost more.Be careful, you can wire to your existing doorbell transformer but that is assuming you leave the existing chime in place. The chime provides some resistance. I happened upon that info reading reviews. I found online many people saying they fried their new doorbell because they didnât install a resistor. If in doubt, ask support.The doorbell came neatly packaged with pretty much everything you need to install, including a little screw driver. These guys put a lot of thought into the packaging.The doorbell seems to be well built. It has some weight to it.This is the only (non-subscription) doorbell I could find that allows for two-way talk using Alexa and the Echo Show. I found that many doorbells say âWorks with Alexa.â But can they do two-way talk using the Echo Show? The Eufy looks nice, also costs quite a bit more. Works with Alexa, but no two-way talk they told me. Scratched them from my short list.I get a very clear picture on my Echo Show 8. The daytime images are very sharp and colorful.Night images are good considering I have only a small light at the front to illuminate the door and walkway. Without porch light on my walkway is very dark yet camera captures pretty good image also. It sees much better in the dark than I can.I have not played much with Alexa. When the doorbell is pushed the Echo Show announces that someone is at the âFront Door.â My Echo Show automatically opens the camera view. Right now, I say, âAlexa, talk to Front Doorâ. And two-way talk starts. The sound quality is pretty good. Not great but it is a doorbell after all.You need to download the Aosu app to your smart phone to activate the doorbell. The app is necessary for you to receive notifications. Notifications can come via Wi-fi or cellular data.Notifications are sent when the doorbell senses motion. During testing it actually sent the message âSomeone is loitering at the front door.âIt allows you to set the detection zone so I can crop out things like my flag flapping at the end of the garage. I have set sensitivity to âfarâ and so far, no false notifications. It caught me trying sneak up to the door at the far end of my zone which is about 30 feet. This is good for my house. It should be enough to catch the FedEx and UPS guys who never push the doorbell button and just throw the packages the last 3 or 4 feet anyway.I have yet to see the neighborâs cat visit so cannot say if she will cause a motion alert.I donât know how other doorbells perform. But this doorbellâs image quality is really nice.You use the app to see recorded sessions. You can delete them whenever you want or download some to your phone. Downloading could be important in case a visitor did something bad and the Aosu caught them.Conclusion, I am very happy with this buy. The price was very reasonable. No monthly fees. Alexa is happy to show my front door any time.And the support folks at Aosu, especially Ann, have been really great. I donât know where they are based, but their English is very good.If you are sitting on the fence, buy it. Especially if you have an Echo Show to play with.

This is now my second doorbell. I had bought one to test out for the back door and it worked really well so bought another one for the front door. The back doorbell is on battery power while the front one is wired into the old house doorbell.Size: It is a lot bigger than your regular doorbell or even the Ring doorbells. If you’re looking for something small, slim profile, etc. then this is not the doorbell for you.Battery powered doorbell: Worked surprisingly well considering it was exposed to the elements. It took a couple of months before I had to charge it up again. I live in Alberta, Canada and it weathered well in the March temperatures (dipping down to about -20C. Captured video just fine and clear but there is a lag between you receiving it vs where the person is located.Wire powered doorbell: Installation was fairly easy and integrated with the chimer in the house really easily. The location of the doorbell is on a 90 degree angle so used the plates that were provided to tilt it so it would point more towards the walkway vs just the front door. Again, captured video fine but there is a lag.App: The app worked well but I had to get assistance from customer service to get it linked to the Google Assistant but it wasn’t difficult to use. Only wish that the voice chosen could be on a more permanent scale instead of having to remember to pick the voice change before answering the person as currently, it’s defaulted to using your own voice when you open the app to answer and not one of the other voices you choose. If you’re female and want to use the male voice when answering for safety purposes, you have to remember switch the voice before answering or it will be your own voice that comes through first.Customer Service: AMAZING! I had used all the tilt/angle plates that came with the doorbell but it still wasn’t enough (the doorbell is on the side of the house so 90 degrees from the walkway) so I reached out to customer service with a picture of what the doorbell see vs what it should see. They not only responded quickly, they sent me 2 additional plates at no cost and it arrived within a few days. Every time I have reached out to them, they have been very responsive which shows they stand behind the product.Overall impression: Very good doorbell to upgrade to if you want a camera one but don’t want to spend the high cost dollars for it. The doorbell is a lot bigger than others but does what it’s supposed to do. The cost is decent for what you get but the best part is the customer service. I would give it a 6 star out of 5 for the customer service alone. Would I buy it again? Well… I already bought 2 but I would definitely recommend if people were asking.

This has turned out to be a good buy from Amazon. The camera was easy to install, it comes with all the hardware you may need, including an angled mount (which we needed). The app is easy to use, works well with our Android phones and the wifi connection is excellent; video footage is seamless and you can talk to people at the front door regardless of where you are in real time.No monthly fees like other cams unless you want unlimited back-up, but it stores almost a week of footage of your front door activities that you can easily access on your phone. I have recommended this camera to others – it has been a great buy.
