Contrary to popular belief, Microsoft Teams is just one significant component of the broader Microsoft 365 Education suite. It is crucial for teachers to familiarize themselves with the entire suite, available at the website of Microsoft https://www.office.com/. This comprehensive package encompasses essential tools for teaching, such as Teams Calendar, Teams video meetings, Whiteboard, Bookings (for office hours), Class Notebook, quizzes and assignments, and Grade Book.
Each team in Microsoft 365 is associated with a unique SharePoint site, serving as a dedicated web platform for the class. SharePoint provides a range of functionalities, acting as both a web portal for the class and a secure storage location for document libraries and SharePoint lists. Understanding and leveraging SharePoint’s capabilities enhances the teaching experience within Microsoft 365.
This tutorial provides basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 Education. Without this understanding, it is challenging to develop automation even with ChatGPT. This bot answers specific questions about the system, but it is crucial to understand how this system works to fully comprehend the recommendations given by ChatGPT. I hope this tutorial will be particularly useful for the mathematical community. Mathematicians often participate in conferences or visit other universities, which can create significant administrative problems for classroom teaching. With the system described in this book, anyone can teach from anywhere in the world. Another great advantage of this system is that all students’ actions are automatically recorded. This significantly reduces students’ complaints, as the teacher can write a comprehensive report to the administrations about any student in minutes. I have been running this system since February 2020 and its described version since last semester. Even though everything, including even finals, was conducted online, the results do not differ much from my previous in-person teaching results. There are some moderate improvements in the results of top and medium level students, as these students have gained a free tutor in the form of ChatGPT.
It is important to highlight the central role played by Microsoft Lists, particularly within the context of education. While often associated with business systems, Microsoft Lists offer valuable functionalities for data collection, manipulation, analysis, and presentation, which hold significant relevance in the field of education. To illustrate their practical application, consider the example of internet shops, where lists are frequently utilized to showcase products with accompanying pictures, prices, and descriptions. This representation closely resembles Microsoft lists in the Calendar view.
In addition to Microsoft Lists, two notable programs, Power Automate and Power Apps, have been included by Microsoft in the Microsoft 365 app to enhance the standard teaching package. These powerful tools contribute significantly to the creation of successful personalized digital workplaces, particularly for teaching purposes.
