When Gunnar Long is transported into the first fully-immersive virtual MMORPG, he finds himself in a new world filled with magic, mystery, and adventure.

No more 9-to-5 job. No more studio apartment. No more reality TV.

Finally, he’s in a place where he can call home, a place with people he can call friends.

But as more people want to trade their real world lives to get inside Eden’s Gate, the government of the outside world wants the “game” shut down at all costs.

Gunnar must learn to survive, grow in power, and find a way to send a message back to his old home.

“We’re fine. We’re alive. Eden’s Gate is real.”

Eden’s Gate is a LitRPG adventure.

    Awesome
There’s a lot to this book that I loved and a few things that I really didn’t love. This is my second LitRPG series that I’ve read, so I’m still exploring the genre. But from a critical point of view, I’ll do my best to give you all an unbiased review as always.First, let me say that this book was very nearly a 5 star review. But I don’t round up, so a 4.6 is a 4 star review. This was a good beginning to, what I hope will be, a good series. The plot was good and the story wasn’t too bad either. I absolutely loved the characters, but I’m hoping to see some character growth and development in the next books (they were pretty stagnate in this one…but it’s only the first book). Spelling and grammar…I’ll have to go back and check, but I can’t remember any headache inducing areas where I’d feel obliged to pull out my red pen.Now that’s out of the way, let me say this: (WARNING, RANT IMMINENT)This book went from meh, and me being about to return it, to interesting really quick. You have to stick with it and give it a try. If you don’t like it by the end, then return it and forget all about Eden’s Gate. (RANT TIME) My biggest complaint about this book would be the status read outs. I know this is only my second series in the LitRPG genre, but you don’t need to read off everything every single time. I just wanted to skip over that read out every time it came up. The character is going in to check one status, so read out only that one status. Whenever I play MMOs I don’t bother looking at all my stats whenever I go to check them, we don’t need to know that, we already know that. Tell us when they go up/down, or when the character checks it again.Despite that one headache inducing part of this series so far, I am looking forward to the next book. I’d recommend this book to those of us looking for a new LitRPG adventure, or really anyone who enjoys a fantasy adventure. It’s not epic (or at least, I wouldn’t call it one), but it’s not bad either.P.S. I’d totally go to Eden’s Gate.P.P.S. Make full dive VRMMOs a reality.

Support this Author and others like him.
This genre is littered with mediocrity, so when a gem like this pops up, it is our job to share. This story has heart, and if you take the chance and get this book, you will not be disappointed

Great addition to any LitRPG collection!
Its good to see stories where the MC isn’t some overpowered “LEEEEEOOORRRYYYY JENKINNNNSSSSS!!!!” as if the genre could handle anymore. Thankfully, Gunnar proves to be slightly higher on the middle of the road kind of gamer. He takes time to analyze and think before heading too far in. Not that he makes all great decisions…but that’s part of being human. We make mistakes, and Gunnar tends to land in more than he can handle sometimes. But its these moments that really bring this book to the top of the list for me. He overcomes them not with OP loot or cheats, but quick thinking and a little luck…although he isn’t always so lucky. It’s also great to see the characters that start to surround our not-so-Hero MC. You honestly get to connect and learn about them, even if they are just some NPC’s. If he continues down this path, I think the Author truly has something that started as an RPG but became someone’s life. Too many of the LitRPGs focus purely on the game aspect while neglecting things like personality and plot so I really enjoyed the fact there was a healthy balance of game and story. To be honest, if you’ve read any of the reviews you should just go ahead and grab the book and try it. I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy this and the follow up as much as the rest of us!

    First timer LitRPG
I would give it a 4.5/5.This book was pretty great! I was very much glued to the screen throughout the whole experience.THE GOOD: Believable character. No typical overpowered main character. No boring “the chosen one.” No gag-me “white knight / prince of justice.” Solid story with solid characters. When you think someone is predictable, well, they turn out not to be, which makes the experience even better.THE BEST: This book can act as a stand-alone story OR a great intro to a longer story. You won’t read this and feel cheated if you choose not to carry on (some books act as sort of a trap and leave you hanging, forcing you to read the next book or be stuck with adventure blue balls).THE BAD: Some of the writing is a bit too colloquial for my taste “ya know?” (You’ll find that phrase in there not as speech, but as character to reader)THE UGLY: The ending is a tad lackluster. This ties in with “THE BEST.” Because this book does allow you the option to continue or stop, it does not contain some awesome crazy, “adventure-high” ending that makes you NEED more and at the same time, it does not leave you with an ultimate, jaw dropping conclusion.

    Perfect Story for any Gamer
I’ve been a gamer since the original DOOM days. My favorite games are RPGs (Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Fallout etc.). I’ve also played my fair share of MMOs and so I was completely comfortable and familiar with all the terminology the author used here. I often wonder what it would be like to be actually in the game world and whether or not I could survive LOLThis story hit every level of the RPG element and I really loved the setup and the premise. I love the fact that there are stats, skill points, level ups, status screens LOL The dialogue is pretty witty and the setting is great. I like that I get details about the world, but that it’s just enough so I can use my imagination to fill in the rest. I also think that Gunnar is a strong and well fleshed out character. And Aaron cracked me up when he said that he won’t say DING every time he levels. hahahahahaI’m 100% in love with this story and will read each book in the series for sure! Keep up the great work! This story perfectly covers my RPG and reading cravings!

Si te gustan este tipo de historias, esta no le va a dar una vuelta al género pero es muy entretenida. El protagonista es interesante y te lo vas a pasar bien. Creo que merece la pena leerlo y la historia solo está empezando.

Struggling between right and wrong, Gunnar is slowly getting to know Eden‘s Gate. What was supposed to be just a highly immersive mmorpg game turns out to be a gigantic fantastic world filled with living & feeling NPCs.Remember: your actions have consequences!!

Now too old & slow to be any good at online MMOs and with nobody to really play old style RPGs with, this book was a great find. Not only do I get to leap back into my fantasy world, I also get to relive my youth. You’ll especially like this if like me you grew up in the first era of D&D, Games Workshop, wargaming and roleplay in general. An age before computers and way before the Internet. When this still existed only in our minds.Which is exactly where this books sits and why it was such a pleasurable read.Thank you Edward for an awesome storyline, I look forward to devouring many more and joining Gunnar on his future adventures!

This initial book in the series makes for a surprisingly strong first-time-out-of-the-gate submission by the author. The tale really ignites once the main character enters the fantasy world. The author has chosen to approach NPC characters as having outstanding, revolutionary, evolving AI code, meaning the act and respond like real people. This is how the author really elevates the enjoyment of the series. Sure, the hero is in a game, but the digital characters don’t know that, and more importantly, they don’t act like it. They’re all striving for their own hopes and dreams right alongside Gunner (the hero), and the conflicts are well worth the read.I would also highlight the action – both in terms of pure fight mechanics, it’s a gripping read, and how the author implements game-design mechanics, it’s actually really exciting action. The limits placed on Gunner as new, low level player drive him to more interesting and creative solutions, and our movement up the power ladder with him is a rewarding journey. This is not ‘The Name of the Wind,’ but it is entertaining, very well written technically (sounds like a slight but it’s not, this storyline Drives down that plot highway), with a compelling main character and intriguing interactions with a larger environment. It’s well-worth the price of admission, and the rest of the books in the series only get better. Enjoy!

It took sometime to get into the book but once Aaron came into the picture, things changed for better. I will pick up the second book for sure.
