Use this hands-on guide book to learn and explore cognitive APIs developed by Microsoft and provided with the Azure platform. This book gets you started working with Azure Cognitive Services. You will not only become familiar with Cognitive Services APIs for applications, but you will also be exposed to methods to make your applications intelligent for deployment in businesses.

The book starts with the basic concepts of Azure Cognitive Services and takes you through its features and capabilities. You then learn how to work inside the Azure Marketplace for Bot Services, Cognitive Services, and Machine Learning. You will be shown how to build an application to analyze images and videos, and you will gain insight on natural language processing (NLP). Speech Services and Decision Services are discussed along with a preview of Anomaly Detector. You will go through Bing Search APIs and learn how to deploy and host services by using containers. And you will learn how to use Azure Machine Learning and create bots for COVID-19 safety, using Azure Bot Service.
After reading this book, you will be able to work with datasets that enable applications to process various data in the form of images, videos, and text.

What You Will LearnDiscover the options for training and operationalizing deep learning models on AzureBe familiar with advanced concepts in Azure ML and the Cortana Intelligence Suite architectureUnderstand software development kits (SKDs)Deploy an application to Azure Kubernetes Service

    Decent content, misleading title
If you are an AI afficionado or can list the inner workings of five different machine learning algorithms this book is probably not for you. Then again the pitch of the book isn’t “ninjas enter here”. Could be that the title should reflect this by having “beginner” or “starter” in it as well. For non-ninjas it lays out the breadth of Azure Cognitive Services in an understandable manner. There’s plenty of screenshots and illustrations which makes it beginner-friendly. While this doesn’t by itself specify a set shelf life there is a certain risk these will not be valid in ten years from now after Microsoft has revamped the Portal once or twice, but with a bit of luck you’ve advanced to the next level by then.Yes, you can get started with these services solely by reading the official documentation as well, but depending on your personal preference it can be easier when someone has done the job of assembling a curated walkthrough of the topics instead of jumping from one page to the other on docs.microsoft.com. I haven’t cross-referenced, but I’m pretty sure copyright prevents duplication so either way the sources complement each other.I’m not an expert in this field myself, but I have tested a couple of these services previously and found this book perfectly acceptable as material to get going with Cognitive Services.

For beginners. Very clearly written. Hands-on approach is fantastic.
I don’t recommend the book for 20-year AI veterans who have a ton of experience with Cognitive Services, so if you’re looking for an advanced book, you should keep looking. This book is more for beginners who are looking for a journey to fully understand what Azure’s AI platform has to offer. From that perspective, the hands-on part is unusual (I don’t usually see it in a beginner’s book), and it really helps cement the concepts that I learned.

Great introduction to Azure Cognitive Services and Machine Learning
Azure Cognitive Services contains a broad range of services that leverage AI to accomplish many common requirements from vision recognition, speech and translations services, and language inference including bots. Hands-on Azure Cognitive Services does a great job of collecting these services in a cohesive narrative. This book is valuable for someone interested in the capabilities of Azure in regards to AI and ML and want to gain an understand quickly, like a designer or lead. Or someone wanting to explore but not sure how to get started. The chapters are clear and the examples relevant. The subject is huge though and fortunately the book does have relevant references to continue exploring a particular Azure service in more detail.

A good starter book for Azure Cognitive Services
Azure Cognitive Services are a great collection of online APIs that pre-train many of the most commonly machine learning techniques leveraging vision, speech, language, etc…This book is a collection of very handy recipes to getting familiar with testing these APIs and deploying them into broader software applications. Additionally, this book helps familiarize readers with Microsoft Documentation and how to leverage the most out of them. Highly recommend!

Returned this as i think its a ripoff. very basic, short with lots of screenshots of configuration steps. dont think you should be paying 30 quid for what is basically a cut down version of Microsoft’s own online guides
