Old Time Gamer –
Addicted to an RPG? Guilty…
Like the main characters in the Tower of Gates series, I find myself getting drawn into the rich world Bellow is creating with this fresh new LitRPG saga. Hate, book 2, finishes up our heroes adventures on the first level of the game. Once again, the book reminded me time and time again of my old tabletop RPG days. I can’t wait to see how this series develops over the next few books. I’ll definitely be reading them all. He’s really managed to capture that old school RPG feel in the first two books. As other reviewers have mentioned, Bellow continues to improve with each LitRPG book released. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!

A great gamer story
This is a well written book that has a true LitRP storyline. There is adventure and such well developed characters that they pull you onto the action of the book. It has a interesting and intriguing time in the game. A great read for gamers. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

What if you were stuck in a game and nobody cared?
I finished the first book. I abandoned this one.Maybe it’s really good writing, but I found I really didn’t like the characters, and didn’t want to hear any more about them. The story seems ultra-contrived, while the RPG aspects are burdensome. The jock is a stereotypical jock (but not in this book), the clueless girl is a clueless girl, the plucky crippled nerd who justifies them all being trapped is paranoid except when fearless, a douche except when friendly, etc. He’s the MC and no split-POV is going to change that!Or somethingAnyway, I realized that unlike the characters in this story, I have the option to quit. So I did.Technically the writing is fine. And if you like sparkly angsty vampires, you might like this book. Or deserve it.

2nd book in series was enjoyable for me and my 13 year old son. Which is saying a lot seeing as its very hard to get him to read outside of school.

Too much like a game. Needs to be more like a book.
I was given free access to this book [and part one] for the purposes of this review and have to admit to quite enjoying the experience, on the whole. However, the book is TOO RPG based for my true liking and [like many RPG games] the characters seem very “flaw prone” often making the same, or very similar, errors time and again whereas a “real person” would learn from this and adapt.Having said that, it was ok. Not a “page turner” by a long way but not ‘instant trash can’ material either.

Well written and interesting
This is a well written LitRPG that drew me in and kept me reading wanting to know how the characters’ adventures would turn out. I am definitely interested enough to read the next book in the series.I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy

Does what great LitRPG is supposed to do
I am a role playing gamer, from D&D to MMORG I love âem all. My husband and kids (a loosely used term as theyâre 17 and 20) are too, so I think I have the cred to know when a LitRPG is good. This book, as with its predecessor Hack, is more than simply good. It does what LitRPG is supposed to do, find a literally excuse (aka a good plot) to bring an RPG to life and then provide both the gaming experience and a heck of a fun story. Really well done Paul Bellow.Highly recommended.

A decent book
Plot has potential and it’s wroth reading. Now for the but the characters don’t seem to be learning from their mistakes. Some of the situations in the book just don’t feel believable. I just couldn’t get into the flow of the book due to not being able to believe and get into the story. It wasn’t a waste of time though and I am going to continue the series with hope that I’ll get into it.Very Respectfully,Shea
