Impressive Smart Lock, Absolutely Love It!
I’ve been using this smart lock and I’m really impressed. The Wi-Fi enabled feature is quite useful and makes my life easier. The app remote control works flawlessly and I appreciate the convenience it offers. The SmartKey Re-Key Security is another feature that stands out for me. I can’t forget to mention the ‘share guest access’ feature, it shows the thoughtfulness of the design. It’s a fantastic piece of tech!

âWorks great when it worksâ
Set up is easy the first time, I was able to do it alone with just a screwdriver and drill.Love how clean it looks and matches the trim on my door.The batteries run out pretty fast. I made the mistake of letting them deplete and forgot to change them, it reset itself and I have never been able to get it to sync back on the WiFi. Bluetooth is great so as long as Iâm in the house it serves itâs purpose. The cover that goes on the top is supposed to slide on and off, but itâs pretty hard to get off sometimes.

Impossible to pair
Kwikset should be ashamed of themselves putting out a product as bad as this one. I had the original August lock with the hub. The lock worked great for 3 years. Then it started burning through batteries and being unresponsive. So I decided to try another, MORE EXPENSIVE, brand. Kwikset Halo touchscreen. After 2 hours of wrestling with the settings on this item, I am just returning it. I read the bad reviews and figured these were people who just did not know what they were doing. I was installing the lock so I had my daughter set up the App on her phone. That went OK, paired her phone, and all was good. I logged into the App with my phone and nothing. It would not let me change codes. I couldnt see the people in my user list. I couldnt see the people with codes. All I could do was lock and unlock. So we restarted. Paired with my phone after completely resetting the lock. Log into the App and all of the users popped up. All of the poeple popped up. Good news right? No. My wife tried to pair her phone and she finally got it to work by literally holding her phone against the lock. So we tried to pair my daughters phone. Will not work. Tried over 10 times. Asked google, held the a button for 10 seconds. Started over. It will not pair our three phones. I need all of us to be able to manage this lock. Now lets turn to the sound of a moped roaring through your house every time it locks and unlocks. It is the loudest smart lock I have ever heard. Now lets move to the touchscreen. In order to make the touch screen work you have to completely cover it with the back or palm of your hand. Then it makes you push two buttons that light up. Then you can enter your code. Careful. If you have fat finger you can WAY easily touch the wrong numbers. Also, be fast as the touchscreen goes dim after about 5 seconds. I am using a smart lock to help my elderly father, who takes a bus from the house to the doctors at least 4 times a week. His hands are numb and useless. On the smartphone he can just push the big circle unlock on the screen, or it will auto unlock for him. But there is a trick to it. You have to pair the phone.I would not recommend this garbage. I am going to go and buy the new August which is cheaper, works better, actually lets phones use the App correctly, and does not piss me off.

Consistent Product, Setup isn’t as bad as you might fear
I bought this lock when I bought my home back in 2000. It was pricey, but as someone who is constantly wondering if the they locked the door, it’s been a godsend for my anxiety.Pairing and setup with Google Home was not difficult. The command I use the most is “Lock Door”, but you can also use “Unlock Door” with a pin to unlock the door if you’re in the middle of something in another room when a guest arrives.The only problems I’ve had over the years have been the result of me not changing the locks quick enough. I’ve never been locked out of the house, which was a worry of mine when I made the transition over to a smartlock and stopped carrying my keys everywhere.I love this smartlock so much that I recently bought a second on sale for one of the other exit doors in my home. It had been years since I did the last install so it was almost like doing it for the first time. It wasn’t difficult to do, it just took time. I think if I do another one anytime soon, I should be able to cut that time down significantly.Highly recommend this product.One thing to note: the font face for the numbers on the keypad has changed between the model I bought in 2020 and 2024, so if you have one already and purchase a second, take note. The numbers are slimmer and more “modern” than the older model.

Getting this lock to connect to Bluetooth on the phone was the first challenge, have to do a factory reset over and over just to get it connected. Then connecting to the WiFi oh Lord I nearly took an axe to this thing. Took me over 2 hours of repeating the setup until finally it connected. This was not the first time this process had to be done, same for both experiences with the second being due to a router change and needing to reconnect. Very very frustrating piece of junk. Really regret getting this unit.

Bought this lock for a new front door. After the install tried to install the app only to find the Kwikset Halo app is not support in Australia. Total disbelief and frustration.
