I’m surprised by how much I like this
I’m actually a little shocked that I like this as much as I do. I’ve mostly known McAfee in the past as being a subpar consumer security suite that often came for free with various services. The last McAfee product I used was about a year ago, and that was the mobile suite for phones with insurance on MyMetro. It was a resource hog and I quickly abandoned it because of that and the huge variety of useless features.This particular product though doesn’t have any of those problems. It is very lightweight and snappy on my ultrabook, and it has all the features I would want from a security suite without much that I wouldn’t want. There’s only one missing feature I would like to see, and that’s webcam monitoring. It’s not really necessary but it’s nice to have for peace of mind. One feature I was shocked to find on here is a full-featured smart firewall that has its rules automated by the cloud. It has all the standard rules, but it also blocks IPs that have low trust ratings on other networks. It’s the first time I’ve actually felt comfortable leaving a firewall set to auto mode.The primary value of this particular suite though lies in its inclusion of a VPN service. A standalone VPN service normally prices around $60. I’ve seen security suites offer built-in VPNs for as low as $35. But McAfee includes one as a standard part of the security suite, which is honestly how other security companies SHOULD be doing it, but don’t. The honest truth is no one should be online anymore without a VPN because it’s just gotten way too risky to go without one. The one McAfee includes is not particularly extra private, but it is secure.Surprisingly, PC cleanup tools are genuinely helpful without being overkill. They identify just the right amount of junk without accidentally tagging things that aren’t junk. I find the app updater to be a little wanting in its list of supported software. However, it does cover the really important updates like Windows and browser.I don’t use the password manager, parental controls, or encrypted storage features.I had no issues following the instructions after purchase to log in to my pre-existing McAfee account and add the new license.Resource usage is sensible.

My girlfriend clicked a messenger link that was a scam to get your password, as much as I have tried to teach her not to do that she did it anyway and made every excuse on why she did .lol Anyway, I got this expecting to scan my devices, like the way it used to a few years ago, I was surprised to see that its not like that anymore. They have these other features like check to see if your email has been used in the black web, I don’t know, its different, I’m not interested in those features. I just wanted to scan my devices for viruses, spyware, hidden applications.
