A very original approach…and exceptionally executed!!
Skeptical at first, but it is one the best original takes on the genre that I have read. The storyline and character development is top notch. I was curious in seeing how the author developed an A.I. in alternate history/magical setting. Curious to see how he develops further, not only socially but with science.

Excellent concept and lots of fun
This is a very nice read. Sometimes we need something to cheer us up. And Alexander definitely did that . The book is fun, the concept interesting. I enjoyed it so much that bought parts 2 and 3 before even finishing it. If you’re looking for relaxation and fun, this is a very good place to find that.

Started slow picked up around 30%
It was very difficult to get through the first 20-25% of this book. The author is over descriptive of everything and especially making fights take ten pages instead of a paragraph. I am glad i stuck with it because it did pick up. The premise was interesting and not explored well but the world was enjoyable. As slow as the start was it was enjoyable to see the MC struggle a bit.Personaly i would rate this 2/5 because i HATE books that make a MC go to a world of magic then invent guns and have those guns be better than anything else in the world. The author tries to explain things but it makes absolutely no logical sense. You can turn your brain off and allow the gun DUES EX MACHINA to solve every problem then arguably this is 4/5.There are characters but really no growth or development. They get massive stats and face roll everything but the same struggles the MC has at the beginning he has at the end, except for a short paragraph were the author tries a monologue about how the MC has grown but doesn’t support it anywhere else in the writing. Side characters get thrown into the book by the dozens near the mid way point but again nothing interesting their. You standard dark elf plot line exists half way through the book when the author runs out of ideas, no twists or hooks and without reading the book if you googles dark elf plot lines exactly what happened would be in the top two.LitRPG system and stats. The author came up with a unique take on this and i enjoyed it at first but much like defiance of the fall you have an MC that is a god on the stat sheet but then since the author needs to create tension and struggle some how doesn’t have his stats in fights. Don’t worry no matter the MC stat he makes a gun which kills anything until the author needs to create fake tension and then it suddenly doesn’t work having the author constantly breaking and rewriting the rules of his world with zero consistency. This system or book seems to have been written in short bursts and the author completely forgets how he stated every worked three chapters ago. As a personal note to the author if you can’t write a LitRPG book then don’t, just write a normal fantasy or sci fi book. Putting inconsistent levels and systems in your book to try and catfish litRPG readers isn’t very enjoyable for the reader.Example: anyone can apparently teach a class they own. A class book for archer is 200 blue stones (Currency), yet no archer wants to teach their class, which would cost them nothing, for 180 blue stones. Like why? seriously? Again just turn your brain off and don’t ask to many questions about the systems. The reason why i give the book 4/5 is if you take out the horrible guns in a fantasy world plot and dark elf arc this is a solid story. Again the premise and world was very interesting and enjoyable. I also came away from the book looking forward to the next one in the series because i honestly want to know what the rest of the world looks like. I really hope the author has time to sit down and write out his LitRPG systems so he knows what he has stated they consist of in this world.

Another outstanding story from Mr Mathews!
If you’re not already familiar with Mr Matthews’s works, then you’re in for a treat. His stories grab you on page 1 and never let go. The plot is insanely creative and the characters are so “alive” that you’ll be amazed at how much you’ll share in their trials, successes, joys, frustrations, etc. Great, great book and I’m eager to jump into book 2!

    A compelling story
Alexander sets off on a journey of self discovery. I’m really impressed with the subtle transition for how he changes over time, even how the details are conveyed subtlety changes as Alexander becomes more human. Excellent character development.

Can an AI become human enough to save a new dimension
The story just gets better. I don’t want to do spoilers… a broken civilization where people are giving up and others with power taken advantage of them. Some monsters that are actually good… orphans turning into soldiers….

    Great Book
I was reluctant to start a new series, but with no alternative I gave this a chance. 20 pages in I was hooked. Though I found the premise refreshing and novel, what shines is the quality of the writing, and the ability to have very few contradictions that would take me out of the story. Also, I appreciate that this book could have been split into multiple due to the length and amount of growth the character goes through, but it was kept as one seamless book. Well done, highly recommend for a new series to enjoy.

Feel good book, not a lot of tragedy or failure, a lot of wholesome! The mc is almost instantly overpowered, but that is by design and I feel it allows the book to progress very quickly and have a lot of content.

Okay so first off I want to say that I am by no means affiliated with the Author. I also rarely give a review. But as this is a new author who has created probably one of the best reads for me this year and I would list it in one of my Top series overall. Know this I read around 150 books on average a year. Some years are higher while others can be lower. I love reading and will often reread books or listen to audible versions of the same books. On to the book:Honestly a well thought out book series and I read what I assume to be his first book as the merchant book series which showed the flaws of all first books from a new aspiring author. I feel J.R Mathews has learned what he did wrong within his first book and improved on this new series. It is a long read for many but for what you get it has many arch’s an development points that build up the characters slowly. For me who reads a lot of the Lit-rpg Genre it is a breath of fresh air. I would say that there is no love triangle which thank god I would loose my mind over. The character development is intense and adds to the whole world building experience.Bonus points:Honestly it reminds me a bit of the ‘good guys series’, a pinch of ‘the last physicist’, and the depth of the world around you from books like kings dark tidings!Ps. Author I hope you keep up your work, I am only disappointed that your patron teirs only include one since I would easily pay 15-20$ a month for a sneak peak at the next book for which I already pre-ordered
