As the dust settles on the battlefield of Carthage, Alexander finds himself struggling to cope with the aftermath of war. Plagued by demonic corruption and mental exhaustion, he searches for any means to restore his strength and secure his rapidly expanding empire.

In his desperation, Alexander turns to a mysterious prisoner who offers a unique form of power that could help him achieve his goals. But with the prisoner’s motivations unclear, Alexander must weigh the risks of trusting this enigmatic figure against his own desperate need for a solution. In addition to his personal struggles, Alexander faces the daunting task of securing trade routes for Venice before the pirate threat returns.

Seeking new sources of resources and allies, he leads his legion north to the scattered outposts on the dangerous frontier.

But the region is fraught with danger, as many of the outposts have recently been overrun by powerful monsters or treachery. To survive, Alexander and his legion must rely on new allies, new technology, and strange, unknown powers that Alexander alone might be able to master.

As Alexander ventures deeper into the unknown, he must also grapple with his own inner demons and find a way to heal his mind and body. Can he overcome the challenges ahead and lay claim to the resources of the frontier?

    Great Story Telling
The series and story telling improves with each book. This was the best so far. The story does not suffer from the typical issues with LitRPG books. The story has the protagonist growing in power but at the same time does not have full comprehension of what he gains as he grows. It does not drown the reader in stats but instead provides just enough for the reader to understand the protagonists struggle in trying to understand vague information provided and why mistakes are made. Each book has the protagonist learning and growing, recovering from mistakes he makes from assumptions, and facing against ever growing challenges as he learns more about the world abroad. Most importantly you have a hero who feels three dimensional vs a character represented by a sheet of stats. After finishing the third book – The Rhine – I am eager for the next. If you are a reader who cares about the story, the characters, and the hero’s journey and less about pages of repetitive stats and descriptions of powers, this is a great book to read.

    Pretty good
This novel has spent some of the goodwill that the protagonist has developed. Plus the author’s transparent promotion transgender ideology is problematic. This is a very “the ends justify the means” sort of book with the lead character using necromancy, blood magic, and other unsavory methods. That said, the theme of the protagonist sparing the innocent has been preserved and as such is not completely depraved. All that said, it was an enjoyable read and the story line is interesting. I recommend this book for adults as the author’s treatment of certain themes may be objectionable to some parents.

I have enjoyed this series very much indeed. The blend of AI, magic and a reality organized like a video game makes it unique and interesting. The characters are well-defined and easy to imagine. The scenarios are very well described and the storyline is captivating.

Uma das melhores séries que já li, e esse terceiro livro é realmente ótimo. Ele é longo, não é cansativo e vemos muito desenvolvimento de personagem e de mundo. 10/10

I have to say i started the series disappointed that i had to wait for JMM series to continue but I got hooked. Not spoiling is hard so I’ll just say that the characters feel real, the little romance there is never feels forced. There’s so much diversity but it’s not taken for granted. The author touches on so many ideas and fills in the world so well for all perspectives. From the tihili and their culture to the dwarves…first time I’ve read dwarves that feel like complete people with backgrounds and families etc.Lots of strong characters regardless of their gender or orientation (he’s done that so well in all his books so far)Sad i have to wait for books four and five now lol
