    Well organized
I’m not looking towards certification process – I mainly work with another cloud provider and I was looking for well organized source of knowledge which would show me GCP’s big picture, its naming conventions and insights quickly. I’m fully satisfied.

    High level and average
A high level introduction to cloud. Touches upon various cloud concepts but remains high level. Chapter 7&8 are core and well written. I would recommend start with the book and then get a book with detailed concepts.

Full of useful exam tips, covers Compute Engine, GKE, App Engine Functions, Security and beyond..
This book perfectly balances getting cloud architects and engineers ready for the Google Professional Cloud Architect certification exam itself, and more importantly, ready for architecting real-world solutions on GCP for clients. I especially liked the authors’ writing style, which is conversational and easy to understand. In the intro and first four chapters, the authors give a foundational overview of Google cloud services and of the Google Compute Engine Infrastructure stack of VMs, Storage and Network in GCP. I got the most benefit from Chapter 5 onwards, where the authors detail the functions and uses cases for GKE containers, app engine, serverless functions, security tools and monitoring. I spent most of my IT career as a SQL DBA, OLAP developer and Windows infrastructure specialist. Getting a firm understanding of cloud platforms and big data services on GCP was the hardest part of the Google Cloud Architecture exam for me to grasp. That, and of course memorizing all the tricky command line tools such as GSUTIL, KUBECTL and BQ. Previous to buying this book, I had followed the Google Learning Guide for Professional Cloud Architect, done Google online Qwiklabs with free GCP credits, done all the Coursera courses and LinuxAcademy courses on GCP architecture, and taken numerous practice tests on both Udemy and LinuxAcademy. Yet I still failed the first try at the test. After a month of working through this book over the Christmas 2019 holiday break, watching the coding videos provided online with each chapter, and then studying the dozens and dozens of “Exam tips” sprinkled through each chapter, I was far more prepared for the exam, had a far deeper understanding of the three standard case studies, and was more ready to provide real-life cloud architecture services to my company’s clients. My average score on practice tests on LinuxAcademy went from 70% before buying this book to 90%+ after reading this book. I passed the cert test itself easily on the second try. I was glad to see that Packt publishing has a similar book for Microsoft Azure Cloud Architect certification, for the Exam on AZ-300. Assuming the format is the same, I plan to buy that book too, as I start my efforts to nab the Azure Cloud Architect certification! Solid reference for the exam
I didn’t notice that this book was ‘badly edited, ridden with fundamental flaws’ like one of the other reviewers. I thought the content was good and well written. The sample questions could have been longer and more detailed, like the ones on the exam, but they did cover relevant topics and helped prepare the reader for the exam. You will not be able to pass the exam by just reading this one book, because it is a very complex exam requiring a deep understanding of GCP. There is no single resource that can fulfill that goal, but this book definitely is a very good one in helping your preparation.

    Well organized book
I passed my Professional Cloud Architect quiet shortly after it was announced (in March 2017) but recently I became Certified GCP trainer. I bought this book to organized my knowledge and be a better trainer. I was not disappointed.I like the book structure. It covers all aspects all exam aspects but it can be also treated as GCP “missing manual”. Even if you are already certified professional or for some reason you don’t plan to take the exam but you work with GCP you should consider reading this book.I will recommend it to my students.

GCP Architect passed a few months ago
This book was very well written and organized. Appreciate the order the authors went in and the tips and references to other online materials.I passed this test using this book along with some online materials. Not the easiest test and this did a great job giving the necessary info to read more on.

    Faulty towers
The book is badly edited, ridden with fundamental flaws, some of them are quite serious. If you are not vigilant enough to spot these factual mishaps, you could be in for a rude shock and most certainly won’t make it through the accreditation.I suggest use the book’s TOC as a check list and refer to the GCP docs instead.

This is the only book you will need – hands on and well organized – easy to understand…this is simply the older version. There is a second edition – get that! The other books are not very good…

I found this book useful as a study guide and still find myself looking through pages when I need to figure something out.I sometimes see the Everest of possibilities with GKE and GCP and feel overwhelmed but the authors break down some very complicated scenarios really well in a structured way. This is a technical guide so worth bearing that in mind, not a “dummies guide”

The majority of the pages in the book is screenshots of the UI and some of them are already outdated. Also don’t expect any proper explanations of the case studies.

I found this book a really good guide for my studies. The full exam blueprint is covered in depth and the guide is a good reference point for GCP in general. It’s an excellent resource for anyone working on the platform and a thorough guide for anyone pursuing qualification.
