Design, develop, and deploy a real-world web application by leveraging modern open source technologies. This book shows you how to use ASP.NET Core to build cross-platform web applications along with SignalR to enrich the application by enabling real-time communication between server and clients. You will use Docker to containerize your application, integrate with GitHub to package the application, and provide continuous deployment to Azure’s IaaS platform.
Along the way, Real-Time Web Application Development covers topics including designing a Materialize CSS theme, using a test-driven development approach with xUnit.net, and securing your application with the OAuth 2.0 protocol. To further your understanding of the technology, you will learn logging and exception handling; navigation using view components; and how to work with forms and validations. The rich code samples from this book can be used to retrofit or upgrade existing ASP.NET Core applications.

    A great and COMPLETE book!
I bought this book from a friend who had shifted his focus to another framework and this was a great choice for me. I want to list a few points as I’m going through the book for the second round.a) This book covers the whole cycle of development from A to Z. There is a ton of materials that is covered/b) In each chapter and section, the author provides full detail in the book and the solution he provides.c) Although, the book was written before the release of ASP.Net 2.1 and SignalR Core (the new version) the author used the preview of SignalR and wrote this book. Unlike other books that had used the legacy SignlR 2, This book is based on the NEW SignalR which is a huge plus.d) The book covers all the backend processing and also show you how to use Materialize Library for UI. However you can use your own UI library like AG or Vue if you wish.Overall, this is a great book and I highly suggest it. I hope the author would make more advance courses on SignalR and Real-Time design.

Decent, but rough around the edges, expect lots of times debugging examples.
I simply can’t give this book more than 4 stars, which is sad. The book is quite well done, by it’s basically a template with a bit of reasoning, the examples are nearly impossible to follow. Sometimes I can be stuck in a section for hours, just to find out that there was a tiny bit of information on a picture, which wasn’t mentioned in the text. This might not have been so bad if it wasn’t for the fact that this book is from March 2017 (i believe), for one thing, ASP.NET Core is now in 2.0 and many of the websites used has changed layout quite a bit.But it’s still quite a good book, and the only one of its kind I could find. But please for the love of good, give a clear indication which files you are working in, it can be frustrating to not know which file should be created and worked in..
