    Best Lock on the Market
The Schlage BE499WB CEN 622 Encode Plus WiFi Deadbolt Smart Lock is a fantastic upgrade for my home security. The Apple Home Key integration is seamless, and I love being able to unlock my door with just a tap of my iPhone or Apple Watch. The keyless entry is super convenient, and the sleek matte black finish gives it a modern look that fits perfectly with my home’s style.Installation was pretty straightforward, and I was able to connect it to my home WiFi without any issues. The lock works reliably with Apple HomeKit, and I’ve set up automations to lock the door at night and when I leave the house. The ability to create and manage access codes for family members or guests is also a great feature, and the lock provides notifications when it’s locked or unlocked, so I can always keep track of what’s happening. The build quality feels robust, and the Century Trim design adds a sleek, minimalist appearance. I’ve used the lock in various weather conditions, and so far, it’s held up great. If you’re looking for a smart lock that integrates with Apple Home and offers both convenience and security, I highly recommend this one. It’s a little pricey, but the features and reliability make it well worth the investment.I loved being able to use my iPhone and Apple Watch to unlock the front door. Worth the money if you walk your dog or take your kids outside and want a simple way in and out.

    Best on the market
I’ve had Nest x Yale, two different Level Lock+, and this is the best one by far. Consistently locks without getting stuck, Home Key works wonderfully with watch and phone (once in maybe 25 times, it does not read and I just try it again), and battery life seems great for as much as I use it. It feels very solid and well-made, and installation was no harder than the others. Controlling through HomeKit is great. There is no additional hub or equipment to buy to control my lock anywhere as long as it’s connected to WiFi and my HomeKit device (HomePod or AppleTV). Every once in a while the auto lock does not kick in, but it seems like that is rare, and only when the lock is not fully opened. This is the lock I’ve needed after all the poor performances from Google messing up Nest and the Level locks looking great but constantly having tech issues.

Works great so far! Primus Cylinder fits well in it!
I replaced my old deadbolt (Array Smart Lock) with this one. While the price was a bit of a tough pill to swallow, I couldn’t be happier with it.The lock actually connects to the app/etc with ease (I could never get my other lock to connect). The lock seems solid and sturdy and installation was very easy.My main reason for switching the lock is that I was upgrading to a Schlage Primus Key for the better key control (I rent a couple of my rooms). My old lock wasn’t compatible. This one fit it with no issue. While this has been quite the investment, it was one that I am glad I made – and I have a lot more peace of mind when it comes to my lock and my keys!

    Solid
I really like this lock. It’s been working seamlessly. The installation was easy but came with some surprises as the screw holes did not align the existing ones on the door frame. But the app and integration with Apple Home is amazing. We had a recent power outage for over 2 days and I had no issues with the lock. I’ve always been doubtful about WiFi locks, but I’m happy I bought this one and I recommend it.

Integrates with Alexa and has a decent app that seems to work reliably
It’s a great lock, and one of very few that meet the needs for security, build quality, with a functional smart lock app. You’ll probably buy this one if you need a deadbolt-only solution, because it is the best out there. Regardless, there are some details about how it works that are hard to research before you buy the lock. I hope this is useful.I liked that…- It looks good. Styling is contemporary but understated. It doesn’t stick out as a Smart Lock. This means it was approved by my condo board easily and it doesn’t attract attention like a dated techie smart lock (which is practically an invitation to try to hack electronically!). Brushed nickel matches my existing Schlage door handle and lock.- It has a good build quality and seems solid and secure. It doesn’t attract attention with branding and high-styling like some other locks out there that are an invitation to be hacked electronically. It has good security ratings- It took time and some tools to install, but could be done myself without a locksmith and still achieve a professional-looking outcome. The setup instructions, diagrams and descriptions in the app setup guide were EXCELLENT, thorough, complete, and addressed a number of different situations you might encounter. I was easy to install given that I already had a deadbolt this was replacing. I did have to carve out or enlarge the hole in my door so this would fit. I was able to use a screwdriver to do this without drilling a new and larger round hole, but it took a little confidence as a DIY-er. NOTE: If I didn’t already have a deadbolt and had to drill two entirely new holes in the door for a new deadbolt, I wouldn’t have felt comfortable doing this myself. Screwing up a door is irreversible and expensive.- It enabled me to set up up to 99 codes for different users. This lets me monitor real-time entry, have a record of entry, and monitor different contractors in my home. This does require Alexa . (Without Alexa you have to be there physically for setup). You can set up different code lengths- The iPhone app is functional and easy to use. You can view, lock/unlock, or manage users remotely- Battery replacement is straightforward from the inside without needing to lock or unlock the doorI don’t like that:- This is a deadbolt only. It is not integrated with my door handle. To use this lock’s functionality you MUST leave the main door lock unlocked and ONLY use this lock. If someone locks the main door lock, well, you won’t have any remote functionality- It wasn’t possible to rekey this lock so its key was identical to my other Schlage door lock (integrated with the door handle). I have a high-security Schlage lock in my door handle. The keys are different sizes. Not even a locksmith can do it.- You can set the lock to lock automatically after a few minutes or not to lock automatically, but you can’t customize the time. I’d like it to lock automatically after 10 minutes, but 5 minutes is the max I can choose- I’d like to be able to export the records on entry (because I’m managing different contractors in my home and using this to verify when they are there and for how long). You can do it manually by scrolling through history, but that’s cumbersome- It’s not silent, but makes a grinding noiseThe keypad hasn’t yet attracted fingerprints and marks (which would reveal the. most commonly pressed digits), which is a worry for the future.I did a lot of research and for my needs am very comfortable this was the best option out there in spring 2024!

I’ve been looking for a relatively tiny, smart phone operatable, no extra drilling, tough enough, no extra devices like door bell, hub or camera, just a reliable simple to use real LOCK, and this is the one.My front door is a little different from most regular doors, there are windows on the left and right side of it, so no way for me to use long screws, and its faceplate is round, most locks are rectangle, although some brands do have round option, but I have to contact their customer support to get one, that means I have to wait couple of more days to have the job done, I don’t like it. Some brands have fancy functions like chimes, hub, camera, fingerprint or even AI feature, they really attracted my eyes, but after carefully research, you either have to buy additional accessories separately, or you have to buy memory card etc. to enjoy the full features. And, I found some fancy locks are made by plastic!! Why bother to install a fancy plastic lock that anyone could kick in?? What’s the point to buy a lock in the first place? Then I read a lot of comments of each different lock, I love high-tech stuff too, but many buyers said their camera didn’t work after couple of months, or the lock won’t connect to its hub and memory card couldn’t store videos, or fingerprint doesn’t recognize anymore, or the rechargable battery drains fast… I just need a lock, a lock that can let us in and out easily while prevent someone who’s not invited from showing up in my house, and it should comes with a physical key just in case something goes wrong, basically that’s all I want – and if a lock that can lock/unlock with a smartphone that’d be even better. This Schlage Encode+ Smart Lock has it all, it comes with square and round faceplates and it supoort wifi, I can use my iPhone as a key to lock/unlock the door, no need to put additional devices in place to have the lock fully functional, and it’s tiny (at least it looks like a lock) with beautiful looking. Speaking of looking, some locks with fancy functions are really big, I understand when putting camera, doorbell, fingerprint altogether would need a bigger case, but it really looks ugly… it’s like sticking a frying pan or brick onto your door, plus some fancy locks are made of plastic or thin aluminum alloy, a screw driver would totally remove the lock in seconds. Anyways, there might be better locks in the market, but they don’t fit my door. This Schlage lock meets all my demands, I have to go for it although its price is higher. Conclusion: less fancy stuff, less power consumption and less opportunity to mulfunction. Do not misguided by fancy functions, we are looking for a reliable lock after all.

Great lock. Installed it on a side garage door and added it to Apple Home. Scheduled lock and unlock works great. Recommended
