Little did I know it carried the Splunk fundamentals 1 & 2 information in this book. I highly recommend buying this book if you are genuinely interested in learning Splunk and leveraging it in your organization. Not only did it teach me the fundamentals, but more importantly learning best practices and the key considerations for taking Splunk to drive value to my constituents. Very Basic Book on Splunk
If you’re thinking about buying this book to help prepare for a Splunk certification, keep thinking…The book is ok, but very basic. It doesn’t cover all of the content need to achieve a certification nor does it provide the depth of information needed.

Old Book
This book refers to an older version of Splunk which no longer offers a free Trial. I just got off the phone with Splunk. I tried inputting the data on the newest version of Splunk but I cannot get the EventGen to work. I plan to return this book and just use the free training provided by Splunk.

Good information but couldn’t get the data input working
I’m a linux user and was unable to get the Eventgen to generate data which is needed. If you have more IT experience then it may not be a problem for you, but unfortunately it’s tough to find help with this. I’m stuck with the book for now. I’ll probably end up doing a udemy course on the same topic so I can get a bit of instructor help

Just bought this book this month. The book is an awesome book to learn Splunk. The book is well written and easy to read and understand. I highly recommend it for anyone trying to learn Splunk.
