In the brutal, mystical realm of Underland, the secrets of the past may hold the key to saving all existence—or finally condemning it to eternal darkness.
Now under the tutelage of a pair of dark lords, Valdemar Verney and his partner and bodyguard, Lady Reynard, have grown greatly in skill and power—he in sorcery and summoning, and she in blood and bone swordsmanship. Having faced the knowledge of his dark legacy, Valdemar is still struggling to find his way as well as solve the pan-dimensional mystery that seems to be guiding his destiny.
When the Dark Lord Och decides to make a punitive strike against the demented, gore-drenched Derros, both Valdemar and Reynard are put to the test in mind, body, and soul against an enemy far more depraved than any they have faced before: Otto Blutgang, the Derros King, capturer of minds.
But even Blutgang has his uses for the summoner. He commands Valdemar to aid him in his ultimate play for power: opening portals from Underland to countless realities where he can rule above any gods. And if Valdemar refuses, Reynard will be the one to pay the price, forever and beyond . . .
The second volume of the hit dark-fantasy series—with more than 900,000 views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Great sequel and commentary on the human condition
I truly wish that this series would continue, but alas the author has moved on to bigger and better things. I loved this foray into dark fantasy and the inclusion of the Chtulu mythos. Truly a great work of art.

Maxime J. Durand has outdone himself again
The second book of underland, like the first, is excellently paced, with well written characters and interesting, consistently applied themes in a setting reminiscent of Lovecraft. If you have read his other works and liked them, like lovecraftian settings, like dark fantasy, or just generally like grim settings where noble people struggle for a better future, you will like this series.

Good but cliffhanger ending and no further books
Like title says, story is great, but no further books? And the plot is not finished, the groundwork for another book is laid in the end with a cliffhangerValdemar does not realize his dream yet, a villain has plans stirring in motion then it just ends? Since there are no further books it gets 4 stars instead of 5

Nobility in the midst of thr macarbe
Thereâs tentacles and eyes with torture and darkness. The place should be bereft of hope but it persists in an individual who shouldnât have it.He persists with the support of friends in a world that doesnât want him. His struggle is the story and its enthralling. The magic and swords make it part of my favourite genre but the storytelling elevates it over the vast majority of ts peers. Please write a sequel Maxime. To everyone else, please read.

Everything this author writes is gold
Darker than his other material, Underland is a refreshing change of pace from the chaotic comedic nonsense and enjoy of Perfect Run or Vainqueur the Dragon, but despite the horrors beneath the surface, there is joy and wonder on every page of Underland

canât wait for the third
As Iâve grown older Iâve always had run ins with the all encompassing worthlessness of life. And Underland encapsulates this with a show of human will how we continue to fight back so I fell in love with the book and I love a good reference.

An excellent sequel to an excellent book
The only part I regret about reading this is that there isn’t more to read once its done. This book was a wild ride from start to finish, and I recommend it to those that loved the first one.
