A solid resource
As a member of the RPA/Intelligent Automation community, I found this a strong resource covering basic and intermediate functionality with Microsoft Power Automate. The book is written for a âmostly new to automationâ audience. While some information is given about basic concepts, those portions are quick explanations versus detailed content (example: REST, General Terminology, and Connectors / Triggers / Gateways). Total newbies may need more instruction, while experienced developers can easily skip over these explanations.Step-by-step guides are plentiful for the example flows presented. Some concepts (such as Common Data Service) are outdated, but plenty of supporting resources exist, and it is unreasonable to expect printed resources to keep up with all the changes Microsoft gleefully releases.Overall, this is a solid resource that gives a reader clear directions and guidance.

A great book for beginners wishing to learn about Microsoft’s Power Platform
Disclaimer: The publisher reached out to me to review this book and has given me a review copy to do so. In an addition to that, I am also a Software Engineer of the Power Automate team. However, I promise to be 100% honest and completely forthcoming in my review of this book.Overview:This book is designed to teach those who are inexperienced with coding or are new to the Power Platform how to automate their workflow by utilizing the tools such as Power Automate. This book with walk you through how to create a flow, how to test a flow, some basic actions a flow can do, and other aspects of the system. What I liked:I appreciated the simplicity of the steps and instructions. I also think this did a good job going over the basics of creating and testing different types of traditional flows while also showcasing flows that could be expanded upon later to actually have impact in some people’s daily workflow. What I Don’t Like:While I appreciated the simplicity, I wasn’t a fan of the lack of coverage of certain areas. For example, UI Flows (RPA), is a very important feature that I believed should have been covered, as opposed to being mentioned twice in the book (a definition at the beginning, and a reference at the end).I also think that many of the screenshots and diagrams were either too small or too blurry, as I could barely read the image text on my 34 inch monitor and reading on a phone was near impossible without zooming in all the way. What I Would Like to See:The biggest thing I would like to see is an update going into more details regarding RPA and when it should be used opposed to traditional flows. I also would like to see higher quality screenshots with more readable text. The only other thing I can think of is possibly talking about solutions and solution flows briefly, so the user is aware of its existence and its uses.Final Thoughts:Overall I think this book is definitely a good buy for those who are newer to the Power Platform and wish to learn about automating parts of workflow using it. The simplicity of the book allows this information to be easily digested by the reader.if you are someone who already has experience with the Power Platform or Programming in general, this book will probably not be for you. But for most people, I think this book is a great introduction to the platform and is something I personally would have liked when I was first learning the system.

This book is for the end user with low code/no code experience – reduce repetitive tasks!
If you are an expert coder or an advanced IT guru, this book might disappoint you. However, if you are like me and have very little knowledge about coding but what to be able to create automations that you can use to reduce the amount of repetitive tasks, then this book is for you! The book lays out Power Automate in a very easy to read format and I also enjoy all the visual graphs to bring home the point. There are also a lot of terminology that is front loaded so I have an understanding of Power Automate and how I can use that to communicate with my IT folks when I need help!

Not for the beginner user
Book is already outdated. Software has changed so it is hard to navigate the steps when they don’t match the software. Also didn’t like the fact that you needed certain services in order to complete the exercises like Dropbox, Twitter, needed access to the Admin center. Not much explanation of why certain selections are made.

Good book for beginners
Disclaimer: The publisher reached out to me to review this book and has given me a review copy to do so. However, I promise to be 100% honest about my opinion about the content within this book.Overview:This book is for individuals who has little to no experience with MS Power Platform(specifically, Power Automate). This book gives users a head start & the knowledge obtained can be helpful in implementing automation workflows. What I liked:As promised in the preface of the book, author has done good job stressing on the fundamentals and examples. Illustrations & the samples were very helpful in following the content.Note: If the reader is new to Power Automate, practicing the sample flows in parallel will be of good help. If the reader is already experienced, it will be a quick refresher. What I Don’t Like:1. Should have included some samples on leveraging the custom connectors in the flows2. Including more content on the UI FlowsWhat I Would Like to See:Taking care of the points I mentioned in the above section.Overall, this is a good book for beginners who want to automate processes using Power Platform. This is too pricy for experienced users who just want to use it as a quick refresher.

Thin
Effective but very simple. For the price, I want more coverage. The screen shots require a magnifier. Very disappointed there is no coverage of RPA and AI.

well, at the time of writing, it was the only book I could find. So it was the best book.It gives many examples. Good to start. It gives no background and explains hardly anything.Screenshots are hard to read.It is basically 250 pages of “click here and then click there and enter xyz”. It works, but do not expect anything else.It is well structured and easy to read.
