Easy to install
After looking at reviews I was hesitant to order, but it was really easy to install and set up. Works great so far. The instructions are on the app and pretty detailed. Not sure why a lot of the other reviews say it is so difficult to set up. I plan to purchase a few more.

Easy to install and use
Was looking for a smart lock where I didnât have to change the lock so decided to go with this one and glad I did. I have smaller children that started coming home from school by themselves this year and didnât trust them with keys. So something that used the existing lock and was easy to use was top priority.Installation was pretty easy. Took less than 30 mins and everything needed was in the package. I set up individual access in the app and tested it with the kids and was very easy for them to use. Lock opens fast once code or fingerprint is verified and the features to auto lock have been great as well.Couple things that would have made it 5 stars:1. A more shiny silver option. That would blend in much better with a silver handle (like mine) than the flat finish.2. Keypad could provide some feedback that a button has been pressed. Sometimes you arenât sure if it registered or not and have to tap it again. Once you get use to it, you wonât see that much but some sort of feedback (haptic?) would be helpful.3. Lots of batteries. Since I have the keypad too the lock and keypad take 4 AA and 4 AAA respectively. Need to see how these hold up but would be to have a way to use less batteries or a different size.Other than that, everything has been working well so far. Itâs worth checking out if youâre looking for this type of solution.

GREAT product and step by step installation
We should have gotten this sooner. You can use your existing deadbolt lock and keys and youâll have the added features of a digital deadbolt. Anyone can install this product and Yale Access has step by step and clear, short video instructions. There’s a fingerprint reader on the keypad at the bottom or you can set up a number code. You can set the door to auto lock after a few minutes. It can even automatically open when your iPhone approaches the door. Iâm completely satisfied and Iâm a happy customer. I would highly recommend this product and company!

Why is Zero Stars not an Option?
How can anyone claim this is âeasy to installâ when there is not a single bit of instructions provided? No words anywhere except the word âYaleâ stamped on things. No pieces of paper in the box (other than a long blue sticker). Nothing. I looked on the web, and it said to try the app, but the app needs a barcode that is definitely NOT in the box.

no need for keypad
This smart deadbolt allows you to retain your existing key by installing it over your current lock, it uses two AA batteries which I’m not a fan of but they seem to last a while. The installation process remains straightforward, guided by videos through a QR code. It features Bluetooth, a wireless device, and the handy DoorSense technology, which automatically locks the door after detecting its open or closed status. You can unlock the door using your key or your phone. There’s even a feature to automatically unlock the door when your phone is near which is neat. This smart lock offers a great convenience.

The lock works, but it is missing some key features if used by your kids…
I bought the Yale Approach lock and the keypad touch so that my kids could enter the house without needing to carry around a physical key that could get lost or stolen. I wanted the ability to add my kid’s fingerprint to the keypad touch so they could use their fingerprint to open the lock like it shows in the marketing pictures. As of this writing, the only way to setup a child with fingerprint unlock is if you give them full ownership permission. The only way to provide ownership permission to your child is to give them app access and full control of the lock which requires them to have a cell phone number. This is a huge oversight in my opinion and hopefully it is something they can change in the near future. Owners should be able to give fingerprint access, without requiring a child to have a cell phone and giving them full access to the lock.

Easy Install! Caveats I wish I’d known about
I bought this because it “integrates” with simplisafe alarms. What they don’t tell you is that requires Simplisafe monitoring (at least $9.99/month) and the only thing it does is lock/unlock/ignore based on the alarm status. It does not set or unset alarm. Also the linking process is not documented anywhere. Yale support didn’t know at all how to do it. You have to call simplisafe support and the directions they give are full of single sign on bugs between the two companies. If I weren’t highly technical that would have been blocked me.That aside this is the easiest smart lock system I’ve ever installed by a country mile. I have had more than a few. The keypad is excellent and responsive. Glad I paid a little more to have it. The lock itself looks good and doesn’t make the outside of my house ugly. It also locks well even though the deadbolt isn’t perfectly aligned. The last Yale/Nest lock I had would error out at the slightest friction.
