Yale Assure Lock with Z-Wave (YRD226-ZW2-619) – User Log Works with SmartThings
Our Schlage keypad deadbolt lock broke after 8yrs of service. I decided to replace it with the Yale Assure Z Wave smart lock to integrate it with our SmartThings (ST) hub.Installation was very easy. The only issue I ran into was the deadbolt mechanism did not operate smoothly when I first installed it. The installation diagram mentions you need to check that it moves freely at each step of the way and although I thought I followed the directions it was still sticking. It appears the deadbolt mechanism and the interior/exterior covers have very small tolerance so you need to constantly check for smooth operation while mating and fastening them through the deadbolt mechanism (it might help with an extra pair of hands). One thing I dislike is the included rectangular strike plate for the door frame. It would have been nice if Yale provided a plate with a lip.As for programming the lock, there are many reviews/comments saying this Z Wave lock does not show who unlocked the deadbolt in the ST app log. This is inaccurate. You can see who unlocked the deadbolt if you follow the directions below:1) Follow the directions that came with the lock including the step where you set your master entry code2) DO NOT create regular entry codes using the keypad. If you created entry codes from the lock’s keypad, ST history log will only show “Code 2” or “Code 3” as the one who unlocked the deadbolt. If you created codes using the keypad, you’ll have to do a factory reset and start over.3) Open the ST app on your phone (I’m using an iPhone app) and on the upper left corner of the screen, tap the three horizontal bars (menu bar)4) Select SmartApps5) Add the Smart Lock Guess Access widget by tapping on it6) Once the widget is added, you’ll see the widget on the main screen. Select the widget.7) In the upper left corner of the widget screen, select Lock Codes and then select Invite Guest8) Complete all three fields and save them for each account you are creating. The info provided in the “Who will be using this lock?” field is what will be shown in the log.9) You can click on ‘History’ in the upper right corner and you’ll see that each account has been created with a date/time stamp.10) Users can start using their entry codes immediately. However, their unlock history will not be logged. It seems it takes 4-6 hrs for the user log history to be activated in ST. After 4-6 hrs, when a user unlocks with their code, the history log will show the date/person/time of when the deadbolt unlocked.11) You can turn on notifications in the ST app and iPhone to notify you each time the deadbolt is unlocked.

So far so good
So far I have really liked this lock and it has functioned flawlessly. I like that it is a one press lock and you don’t have to enter the code to lock. The lock moves smoothly with no issues. The zwave functionality has been working well for the most part. It is directly connected to Smartthings with no issues, but I also have it connected to Home Assistant (via ST). Whenever HA restarts it always thinks the lock is unlocked even though it is not. That is not a lock issue, just mentioning for others that may be looking for a HA integration. With that said though, these locks do seem to be overpriced for what they are. A simple combo powered lock runs less than $50 these days, not sure why manufacturers think the zwave connection part is worth another $100.

Great lock
We have been using this at our home for years. No more keys. This lock made it easy for us with dog sitters, cleaners or anyone who needed one time access. The lock gives you the ability to set temp codes which has helped us on multiple occasions. The deadbolt moves smooth and does not get hung up. Highly recommend

Good lock, works well with Alexa and Ring Alarm
I wanted a lock that specifically worked with my Ring Alarm which is why I chose this model. I wanted to be able to lock the lock which also arms my Ring Alarm at the same time as well as disarm the alarm when I unlock the lock. The only issues I’ve encountered so far is going to close the door and sometimes my hand will hit the one touch lock button and it would automatically lock my lock (with the door still open) and my alarm would go off, that has been getting some used to being careful on where to grab the door. The other issue is that the touch pad is a little slow to respond so it takes a litter longer to enter the code than my old lock which had the raised buttons. But in all it works perfectly for what we wanted and are happy with it.

Easy to install – terrible battery life.
Update November 29 2023: I have to change the batteries once a month if not sooner. I made sure the lock was not obstructed in any way. I have a different brand lock set on another door and the batteries last a year. The installation was very easy. I only referred to the instruction for the programming part. Programming was easy. Setting up the Z-Wave module was very simple. My problem is with the Ring integration. My current lock codes did not automatically get linked with the lock. I had to change the code for my access as owner, and for the shared user, I was not able to use the code my wife has used for more than a year. I had to give her another code so that it would register in the Yale lock. The Schlage I have installed on another door has no issues with accepting the codes from RING. The reason why I am upgrading is because other Schlage was starting to eat batteries at a rapid rate, and staying linked to RING became problematic. The other issue has nothing to do with Yale… I think. The only thing the RING app allows yo to do is Lock / Unlock. The automatic closing or any other programming must be performed on the lock manually. Homelink has more capability than the lackluster interface RING is using… NO OPTION.Also, the DoorSence module was not part of the kit.

Works with my Ring alarm!!
I wanted a version of the Yale deadbolt that would work with the Ring eco-system. This lock does this. One of the drawbacks (my opinion) is the fact you cannot use the Yale app with this model.Overall it’s a fantastic deadbolt as long as you have z-wave and/or a ring alarm. Install was easy too.I researched for months to make sure it worked with Ring.

The is the 2nd Yale Zwave deadbolt that I bought. The first one (RYD210) was bought back in 2011 and it is still work well. I replace it because the color on the outside is all dull due to 12 years weather exposure. This touchscreen one look much more luxurious and I like the voice instruction is very convenience. Also the sound effort is much soft. But other than that, the installation design and functions are all pretty much sme as 12 years ago. And work just the same. Fairly reliable with few issues that can be resolved by completely reset and reprogram. The only thing lack is the random code feature that Kiwkset/Weiser has so people cannot see your finger print to guest your code.

It’s been in use for almost 3 months now and no issues to report. The included batteries are reporting a 95% charge. No issue with cold weather so far (Montreal). The Zwave integration works flawlessly with OpenHab and I like that I get a report of all activities in real time (unlock, jammed lock, too many incorrect pins) which allows to me trigger the lights as I unlock the door in the evening.2022-08-24Almost 3 years later still working great. I had to change the batteries only once since. No problem with cold weather.

Iâve had this a few years. Itâs awful. I have tried to like it as they are expensive. The deadbolt always goes into the locked position when you walk by the door causing it to bang into your door casing. It wonât actually lock however when you want it too easily. The screen is very difficult to turn on to key in your pin. Itâs also very evident because of the touch screen what 4 numbers get pushed for the pin. I have used a lot of similar locks. This one is an awful experience and very frustrating.
